Frequently Asked Questions
What are the procedures for me to apply for the compensation?
You should make your application through the Labour Department, followed by a medical assessment arranged by the Pneumoconiosis Medical Board (PMB) to assess your health condition. After receiving the certificate from PMB, the Labour Department will validate the eligibility of the patient and issue a certificate to the claimant.
When I am released from the hospital for treatment of Pneumoconiosis, will the Fund Board pay for my hospital bill?
A membership card (Gold Card) is given by PCFB to each patient. The patient just needs to present the card at the Hospital Admission Department and the hospital bills will be re-directed to PCFB for settlement.
If I am not satisfied with the determination of assessment, can I file an objection?
Yes. You can file an objection within 14 days after receiving the determination letter.
For patients receiving monthly compensation, can they request for a re-assessment?
Patients can request for a further medical examination after the expiry of 21 months from the date of the last medical examination.
Can I apply for an exemption to attend the annual patient interview?
You can apply for an exemption if you can provide a letter from a registered medical practitioner or proof of receiving medical consultation near the annual interview period.
